Layout bugs in IE8, what to do?

There is a calculator that displays well in modern browsers. But in ie8 zombies, magic happens outside of Hogwarts! For some reason the :before and :after brackets of .brackets are missing. The display of absolutely positioned letters in tables has disappeared. Apparently position relative doesn't want to be applied. How can I fix this magic?

Because absolute positioning relative to tables has never worked adequately. With this, ff and even more so ie often had problems.
Wrap tables in additional containers and design through them. Leave tables directly for tabular data without embedding additional pseudo-elements in them or using absolute positioning.

Проще забить. Лишний повод на что-то нормальное перейти. А то можно и под IE6 верстать
