Laravel - which version should a newbie install for a working project - 5.5 or 5.7?

Hello.
I am a complete newbie to Laravel but I need to quickly build a real project on it.
Which version would you advise to do:
5.7 where there is email confirmation out of the box during registration, or
5.5 which is LTS and for which there is more educational material?
