laptop SSD
I want to replace my laptop hard drive with an SSD. Accordingly, the SSD will be the main drive.
Requirements: up to 10 thousand rubles ±1; at least 140GB; SATA II interface (SATA 300Gb/s);
At the moment, I have settled on Intel SSDSA2CW160G310 .
Do I understand correctly that Intel currently leads the SSD market?
What can be the consequences if you use an SSD as the main disk of the system (without swap, it is disabled), how to warn it?
PS: Thanks in advance.

The option you chose is not bad, but until the problem with the bug in the controller is fixed, I would not take it. Drives from Crucial perform well, this is a subsidiary brand of Micron (a company that just releases memory for ssd), the controller has already been tested, the firmware has been debugged, the speeds are honest (get what is stated on the package in real conditions, and not just in synthetics, what OCZ and others do on Sandforce controllers). In general, I advise.
Take any from leading vendors (intel, samsung, ocz). All roughly work the same way, and if well, then with equal probability. Since the sata300 connection interface, then it’s not worth chasing the newest ones, it’s better to take a time-tested one.
Regarding the swap file, there is an opinion that it works for reading most of the time, although if you have 8Gb of RAM, then it is not needed. From the word swap, I assume that the system on linux will be used - remove all temporary folders and logs to the RAM if they are not critical for you.
Here is my samsung's work since the beginning of 2009.
OCZ are the best SSDs on the market (speed, price), the quality is good.
Consequences:
1. Increased system boot speed
2. Increased application launch speed
3. Increased OS and application responsiveness.
4. It will die for 2-3 years (so they say), the OS itself and the controller warn. But after 1.5 years it is recommended to make a monthly backup.
With such requirements - I agree with the choice of model, but better OCZ SSD2-2VTXE120G
