Laptop or desktop for development?

Will it be as comfortable to work on a laptop with an i7-4700HQ / i7-4700MQ / i7-4710HQ / i7-4710MQ processor as on a desktop with an i7-4790 processor (both 16 GiB RAM and SSD) for the following task:
web development -services/sites, mobile/desktop applications under mono/.net using Visual Studio 2013 with ReSharper (+ a couple of linux/win virtual machines for testing and android/windows phone emulators + a bunch of open tabs in the browser) ?
I don’t ask about a smaller screen size on a laptop, since it’s possible to pick up an additional monitor.
The question is only about the performance of the system, "so that nothing slows down."

If you work from home, bring a desktop. Even the top mobile processors are a compromise between power consumption and performance. Which is not acceptable when the efficiency of work depends on the power of the iron.
PS We were asked to render 270 gigabytes of an amateur video of a Vietnamese martial artist in 480p. 2 laptops with i5 hastwells and 8 gigabytes make barely noticeable attempts for 16 hours, and there is no end in sight.

Should not slow down. Now the processors are quite powerful both there and there. If you do not plan to constantly move around with a laptop, feel free to take a desktop, otherwise a laptop.

If you need games, take a desktop, if not, take a laptop or nettop because size matters.

"so that nothing slows down" - desktop adynaznachna!!!
The processors are powerful, but ceteris paribus, the throttling of the laptop will come much earlier.
And if you want to have a couple of virtual machines at the same time, then you already need something full-fledged and multi-core!

I don’t ask about a smaller screen size on a laptop, since it’s possible to pick up an additional monitor.
Then desktop/nettop is unequivocal. Something in a mini-ITX-case .. and put a normal video card for graphics (or data processing!) And when the keyboard is killed, quickly change it, and the cooling will be normal.
I would choose from this .
