KVM switch for home use
Dear Khabrovites!
Please help with choosing a KVM switch for home use. I don’t understand anything about them myself, I can only tell you about my Wishlist:
1. Transfer:
- USB (2 pcs, for any devices, without filtering by type)
- DVI (1 monitor)
2. Switch with one button
3. When switching, the computer should “forget” that a device (monitor, USB devices) was connected to it, so that the system handler would work, changing the layout of the desktop, and forget about the connected keyboard, mouse and flash drive. (I saw that usually in KVM switches there is a huge plus just when the opposite is not forgotten).
4. To avoid any problems with the response - the use is planned, including for PC games.

I use Gefen DVIKVM DL Switch. It just fits the description, including about "forgetfulness".

He also flips the sound if necessary.
If the monitor is not Dual-Link, then you can take a cheaper version:

I used the
regular one, and then switched to DL. I've been using them for about 5-6 years.
And in order not to “forget”, I added a DVI / EDID module that remembers EDID. But in this case it is not necessary.
I use TrendNet TK-204UK , full compliance with the stated wishes. I’ve been using it for a very long time (several years, I don’t remember exactly how many), absolutely no complaints (unless at first it was not very convenient that it also switches to double-click NumLock, but I’m used to waking up the screen like that). I won’t say much about the response time either, because I rarely play games, but I never noticed any inconvenience.
If you have multiple monitors, I can recommend a software solution - InputDirector . I have been using it for a long time - the only adequate software KVM. A bunch of options, it works smartly and imperceptibly, it even knows how to fumble the clipboard - a complete illusion of a single desktop from several PCs. The only negative - only under Windows.
