The library there is still Java, in general, so you will need to learn Java in parallel (if you already know Java, then you won’t have to learn much there). In general, I think it’s quite relevant, especially if you plan to write for android.

I started writing in Kotlin even before Google announced its support for Android. The language is worth enough to learn. Now new languages ​​have started to appear that are inclined towards functional programming, such as Golang, Kotlin and Swift. Now, as far as I know, even big companies are trying to replace old languages ​​with these new ones. And moving in this direction is quite correct.
