Java or Kotlin for Android newbie?
Hello everyone, I wanted to get into Android, pick it up, so to speak, try what mobile development is. A question arose, probably already boring to everyone, but I did not find particularly adequate and unambiguous answers. So, tell me, which language is recommended to delve into when learning, Java or Kotlin?
Please do not throw wet rags at me, just curious)

At the moment, it is already possible to advise starting with Kotlin, glancing at Java if necessary. Kotlin is a fairly independent language, and Kotlin / JVM is one of the implementations.
I've somehow moved away from using Java. I use groovy and Kotlin more and more in small projects (we are not talking about Android). But still, I can't imagine how I would use DSLs without knowing the base (Java).
If I'm not mistaken, the most popular Kotlin book is Kotlin in Action. And the preface states that the book is intended for those who already know Java. Actually, the entire book traces the comparison of Kotlin-Java. So draw your own conclusions.
