Java bytecode. Where can I find specifications?

Java

J2ME is of particular interest, although everything else will not be superfluous either. I rummaged through the Internet - everywhere some scraps are incomprehensible. But do they somehow make free bytecode interpreters?
PS Now I'm digging towards the GNU Java Interpreter.
