IT career, not a programmer?

Good day to all. I apologize immediately for stupid questions, I understand little in IT. I'm interested in IT, there are quite a lot of prospects (or so it seems), but direct development, writing code is completely not mine, they repulsed interest in childhood by giving terrible programming courses.
There is another side of the IT sphere, if I may say so, the hardware part, right?
What are the prospects for movement in this direction? For example, be a server maintenance technician or something directly related to iron. What is relevant? What are the salaries in relation to the same programmers? How much are specialists in demand and what specialization is the most popular to start with? To what extent is it possible to improve skills by studying new types of iron and so on?
Thanks in advance for any information. (Answers, links to literature, video, audio)

The value of the system administrator is now falling, because clouds have appeared. The sysadmin becomes more of a qualified support specialist. I already feel it myself. So, in my opinion, if the soul lies in IT, then one way or another it is necessary to know and be able to scripting languages. Take your time with Bash, Powershell, Python. Try AWS, Azure, Cloud. And there is no iron for setting up and deploying the infrastructure: usually everything is done by scripts, so look at Terraform. Machine configs must be managed. Puppet, Chef, Ansible are here to help you. You don’t need to go into iron, otherwise over the years you will be just a technician who sticks and changes pieces of iron. If possible, go to DevOps. Find a normal office where you can work with technology and go as a junior.

Hardware is definitely dying, ordinary admins are losing the market, clouds and automation are constantly threshing
Well, to be a devops you need to be able to program
It is not clear what prevents you from taking other courses

What specifically interests IT? If by salary and prestige, then maybe look into other areas? Sales, management, for example. Well, in general, even in server maintenance, you may need to write code, and abstract thinking and the ability to algorithmically solve problems are probably needed everywhere in IT. What didn't you like about programming? If you still really want to be in IT, but programming is disgusting, I would advise you to try to write something interesting for yourself so that the result is interesting (a game, a bot for a game, a neural network, a solar system model, for example).

Without programming skills, it makes no sense to climb into IT, you can’t build a career. Whether you are at least a tester, at least a system administrator / devops, at least 1snik - everywhere you need to write some kind of automation scripts, etc.
You won't make it as a manager without hard skills either. How can you manage a project if you don’t even roughly understand what the programmers are doing there? You simply will not have authority among them, God forbid, if you get a condescending and dismissive attitude (such as a "gasket"), or even with noodles on your ears, you will forever walk.
Sales? Oh, well,% of the wholesale trade in some kind of rolled metal or industrial. equipment will be any higher than from vparivanie sites and crm-ok.
Well, about the system administration: in most cases, this is a conditional "replacement of cartridges + minor repairs + loading / unloading + setting 1s" for 35,000 rubles / month.
In short, down with half measures - either immerse yourself in IT starting with the basics of programming, or look for yourself in other areas.

"hardware" in its purest form = narrow specialization
look towards sales, consulting, etc.

I heard now in the IT-sphere there is a great need for specialists in information security.
True, it is not quite iron. Or not always iron.

Once, when I was still studying. I thought that I would not need programming and I did not like this business. Even now, I try to sidestep the decision to write something serious myself. I work as an admin at a regional provider where there has never been an admin who could code. Unfortunately, because of this, there are a lot of troubles with the introduction of billing, monitoring, and in general, there is no optimization in the work. Others do not come here because of the low salary (I live in KZ). Yes, of course, you can only work with equipment (which is enough here) Mikrotiki, ubiquiti, infinet, cambium, rad, etc. But you won't go far in your career.
Just recently looked at the vacancies. A JS programmer + knowledge of frameworks -> the proposed salary is 100k (of course Moscow time), and an admin who can both network and python and servers with a high load - 60 - 80k in the same Moscow time.

Didn't find what you were looking for?
