Is Windows 8 backup compatible with Windows 10?

I had a question here: Microsoft is distributing an update to Windows 10 to everyone. And it also offers to format the disk, that everything was smooth. Does anyone know if it is possible then to restore your data from a backup made in 8 and are there any nuances? PS I mean the image of Windows made by standard means.
