Is vpn legal in Russia now?
Previously, it was written \ pumped that ways to bypass blocking on the Internet (vpn, proxy and other anonymizers) would be prohibited or already prohibited.
So are they currently banned or not?
We need reliable information, because. Just google news in this case is not entirely correct.
Due to the blocking of entire Amazon and Google subnets, there is often no access to normal resources. And a lot is needed, for example, for work (for example, today the uppy uploader site did not work for me, I could not look at the documentation).
And if all this is prohibited, then how, for example, to test geolocation or solve similar problems from the example above?

Here it is necessary to separate "I am the owner of the VPN server and provide VPN services" and "I am a VPN client, I got sick of the RKN."
The server owner who wants to provide services in the Russian Federation is obliged to register somewhere with the RKN, receive a list of blocked resources from the RKN and block them. If he does not do this, he himself is blocked. The law was adopted quite a long time ago - in November 2017, but everything was put on it - both VPN servers and ILV. For obvious reasons, now it has been contacted again - and it seems that they will be put into action.
The VPN client can use it - the right to useVPN is still there :) Therefore, now, judging by the toaster, there is simply a massive purchase of VPS and the placement of personal VPNs there. Why? VPN services, no matter how many there are, are still a finite number and sooner or later they will all be put face down on the asphalt. Own VPN is the last place they will come, especially if you do not provide any commercial services and generally do not talk much about it.
So are they currently banned or not?
