Is this opinion correct?
Hello, there is an opinion that if the processor does not support, say, 2666 RAM, but the motherboard does, and if you install the RAM with this frequency, it will still give some kind of performance boost. Is it true ? In different sources they convince one thing, then another. I still stick to the option that this will not give any increase.

Performance does NOT depend on what maximum frequency is supported (at least by the processor, at least by the motherboard).
Performance depends on what frequency the memory is actually running at . In a specific computer with specific BIOS settings. This is the actual value - and you need to look.
Conclusion: your ( dert2313 ) opinion is much closer to the truth.
