And the built-in functions of FF 4 are not suitable for removal?
In the search bar, right-click to clear the search history (provided you want to delete it right away).
And if automatically upon completion of FF work, then:
Settings -> Privacy -> Checkbox "clear history" (Options) -> checkbox "Forms and search log".
