Is there Linux for embedded devices with minimal packages, only OpenGL?

Greetings!
In general, you need Linux without windows for embedded technology, but with the ability to run an OpenGL application so that it is the main one and that's it (Application on Qt). I tried to do it on the basis of Ubuntu, manually deleting everything, and then installing only the necessary packages according to the exhaust, but it turns out that the dependencies drag along the shell and other unnecessary (in my opinion) in the end the system stops working altogether.
Tell me, are there ready-made assemblies? Is this even possible?

I once took an empty Debian, put openbox, Chromium in kiosk-mode, but I had a web-app.
If your program pulls dependencies, then without them, logically, it will not store.

This is exactly what I have been doing periodically for the last 5 years. Remote access terminals for working on a server cluster. Network boot, Linux and X, ssh access to the cluster. With X-session forwarding. Chasing opengl and not only design and "architectural" software in the cluster.
Now we are updating the terminals to debian9, I had to write my own display-manager for authorization, which I will definitely write about on Habré. The problem is that with the transition to systemd + logind, the current lightdm has lost the ability to run multiple copies on different vtX :-(
In order not to install all dependencies, install only xutils, glxutils and xorg. In the apt settings, remove the pull-up of recommended packages.
Yes, I forgot to add, the file system is given to the terminals via nfs in read mode, but there was a time when the system was on flash drives of 1-4 gigabytes.
