If you want a normal development environment, why not use a normal development environment?
There is the usual C ++ and the Internet is full of instructions on how to combine Eclipse , for example, with the desired compiler.
There are simply add-ons for the Arduino IDE that add functionality, such as MariaMole .
Or you can just use any AVR IDE without being tied to the Arduino libraries (but then you will have to write the programs yourself, without the Arduino auxiliary functions)
