Is there a production-ready language for working with sound?
I want something that allows you to play around with sound synthesis / processing, algorithmic composing, that's all, and has a convenient syntax for this. Tried Chuck yesterday. A funny thing, but it gives the impression of unbearable dampness, and the documentation leaves much to be desired. Is there some kind of standard, stable working, carefully documented, constantly updated, and so on and so forth, solution?

Haskell has the Euterpea library stocked with the Haskell School of Music book. The library and the book (and the Haskell language itself) were developed in an academic environment (Yale University), that is, theoretically mature, I'm not sure about production.
