Is there a guide to the basics of the Linux console?

I have never dealt with Linux, now the task is to make changes to a python program running on centOS.
The server is accessed via SSH.
Is there any short guide to the basics to understand in which direction to move.
The first thing that comes to mind is how to view running tasks, how to find out in which program the python script I need is running, how to download, how to upload, how to restart.
