Is there a free tool for measuring distances (px) on a layout image under Mac OS?

Quite often, you have to transfer the size and location of interface elements from a screen (png) to code or a visual editor. I would like to have a lightweight (and free for commercial use) program that allows you to place marks on the image and measure the distance between them. Is there anything similar in nature for Mac OS X?

And I just press cmd + shift + 4, how to take a screenshot of the area, it shows the size when selected :)
