Is there a free multisit program?

Is there a free alternative to Aster? I searched the Internet and found a couple of paid ones, is it Betwin? SoftXpand, Userful but all paid and with an extremely limited period of validity. How to configure SoftXpand did not understand at all. Tell me, maybe there is some other way to divide one PC into two users. Maybe there is a way to do this using a virtual machine (this is probably not the best option in terms of performance), I'm interested in options for both Windows and Linux. If anyone can give me some advice please help. Windows 7 is the most interesting!

Windows multipoint server for Windows is the only legal solution for Windows, but not free. There are options for Linux, xgl seems to be, but I have not tried it. xephyr is. Perhaps a little with the women will have to jump.
