Is there a difference between java 8 and java 11, and is it worth buying a 2017 java programming tutorial book in 2019?

I recently came across a very good java tutorial, but the only problem is that it was released in 2017, is it a mistake to use it now that I have jdk 11? That is, is there a big difference between 11 and 8 versions of java? (if that book by Alexei Vasiliev "Programming in java")
