Is swap needed in Linux VM?
Greetings!
Is swap needed as a partition/file inside a KVM virtual machine? I meet different opinions, I would like to know the pros and cons.

As a reinsurance against the fall of the virtual machine - why not? Don't make it big and make vm.swappiness = 20. Then swap will be used only as a last resort, and its small size will give the minimum overhead to support it.
It is necessary of course, otherwise processes will die at the slightest lack of memory.
There can be no other opinion here, unfortunately.
What's the point? Extra overhead?
Change in the host, and even put zram.
Better yet, move to Docker - resources are much better balanced.
