Is SOAP and REST/JSON Front-End API Licensing Required?
The situation is as follows:
1. We have a system that has an external API implemented in SOAP and REST/JSON.
2. Recently, we have been thinking about abandoning the current vendor and starting system development from scratch, but at the same time making API adapters from the old version of the system.
Attention to the question: is it necessary to obtain any licenses for SOAP and REST / JSON from the current vendor?
I mean on appearance of protocols?

IANAL, TINLA.

What is important is not what you are going to do, but what you intend to use from the objects of the exclusive rights of your "current vendor" (whatever is hidden behind this strange word).
It is possible for Wave not to use elements of its software and trademarks, in which case you will not be bound by copyright or customization restrictions. If you are in the former Soviet Union, then you probably cannot be bound by patent restrictions either.

In any case, I wildly doubt that if you still intend to use something, then you will be given such permission.
