Is node.js in demand?

I've just now dived into node.js and I'm wondering if it's worth the time or is there already a more advanced backend solution?

If you skip the phrase "more advanced backend solution", then the answer is short:
Yes, Node.js is in demand. Popular with web studios, small and medium non-IT businesses, and, I think, freelancing. Of course, more serious projects are also written on it, but, from my own experience, I say that the main niche for Node is the one where the employer does not want to overpay for a backend developer and makes a full stack from a frontender

In short, it's like this: real-time (sensors, games, controls, etc.) and full-stack on js - the right choice.
Otherwise - there are many more convenient alternative tools.
Conclusion : it all depends on the direction of the highly specialized field of activity for which you are going to use this or that tool.

Yes, it is in demand, of course, there is no coolest and most advanced backend solution, because different languages solve different problems and each is good in its own way.

A simple check, we drive the magic words into the upwork:
Node.js - 1,193 jobs found
Python - 2,116 jobs found
Php - 8,314 jobs found
Conclusion - if you really like it, then go for it, otherwise you understood where it is easier.
