Is Ivchenko's statistics textbook good for Machine learning?

Machine learning is just another name for statistics. © Andrey Gulin
After looking for advanced and modern statistics textbooks, I settled on Ivchenko and Gmurman.
I would like to hear an opinion about each of them (if possible, compare them), as well as whether it is necessary to completely read the Ivchenko brick or is it still overloaded for the programmer.

Machine learning is just another name for statistics.

There are several main areas in machine learning.
from psychologists came -> to neural network approaches
from physicists -> came to modeling
from mathematicians and statisticians -> came to statistical/probabilistic approaches
from biologists came -> to evolutionary algorithms.

About a book of 608 pages about statistics -> I would say it's better not to read, in order to roll into machine learning, you don't need to study so much statistics.
you only need to know what a probability is, and how to calculate the conditional probability
