Is it worth taking the time to learn NixOS?

Good afternoon, as you know, in the current system, too much attention needs to be paid to the interdependencies of packages. As a result, a regular upgrade becomes more dangerous for the integrity of the system than installing from scratch. Upgrading a single package may break other packages.
The NixOS distribution, with its functional approach to system configuration and versioned upgrades, aims to change this state of affairs.
Do you think there is a future for this OS and is it worth taking the time to study this OS?

No, it's not worth it. Another small-town distribution of which is legion. A number of solutions are now called for to move away from the package system with a bunch of relationships, such as containers, docker. Ubuntu is currently promoting (testing for now) its "specific way to update the root system".

It depends on whether you need the features that NixOS provides.
I need, I use NixOS, and the nix package manager, also on ubuntu machines.
But you have to understand for yourself whether you need it or not.
