Is it worth it to update Android via zip archives?

There is a device Moto G2, it is now running Android 5.0.2.
Motorola has been writing about a 6.0 update soon, some people with the same handset have already received the update, according to online posts.
So, is it worth waiting for the device to be updated via the network, or can you safely use something like this ?
