Is it worth it now to write your social network?

Hello.
Recently I asked a question on the Toaster "What should a developer do if everything has already been invented" . Among the answers I found quite a few who said that many bikes are actually unique in their own way, they are implemented from the developer's point of view, with his personal improvements of what he relied on during the creation of his project.
For a long time, the idea of creating your own social network came to mind, in which there will be no such flawed policy as in Vkontakte, where various requirements of users who have not been listening to VK developers for a long time will be heard. Now I wondered - is it worth it in our time to make another social network, and will it gain popularity if it has the analog functionality of VK, but also has something that people never expected from the popular social network Runet?
How do you look at it, is it worth taking on the development? On the other hand, you can take on the development for yourself, but there will be experience, even if the network does not find success. What do you think?

Yes, while everything is in words, "I would take it, but I would do it", but all the same, the opinion of other people is important,
how they look at it from their own point of view.

If you have nothing to do with yourself and have something to eat - it's worth it.
This is good professional practice.

"For a long time, the idea of creating your own social network has come to mind, in which there will be no such flawed policy as in Vkontakte, where various demands of users who have not listened to VK developers for a long time will be heard."
As soon as the number of users grows to a critical one, and maybe even less than a thousand, the developers will already stop listening to the various requirements of users, and will focus on the majority.
And if the majority are schoolchildren, the bad policy will revive again.
"As they say, when children grow up and start living on their own, they suddenly realize that they are not so smart, and their parents are not so stupid."
In general, depending on what goals you set for yourself.
* Explore a new niche, try to write your own cool product - of course write.
* Make money - the social network is a very unpredictable long-term option with a low probability of skyrocketing to self-sufficiency.
*Becoming a social network popular enough to compete with the current ones is a very unlikely and unpredictable option, especially if you are asking about it on the toaster.

If you ask such a question, the answer to it will be "definitely no."
This market niche has long been occupied, sawn and overcrowded. And you are definitely not welcome there.
Of course, this does not mean that the current players cannot be moved. Everything is theoretically possible. But for this you will need:
a) a colossal budget;
b) some feature that will attract users.
Such a feature can be some new functionality, some special design, targeting some special audience, and much more. But you have to come up with this chip, articulate it clearly and be confident in it. And build a project around it. Judging by the question, you do not have it, there are only some abstract and vague thoughts. And therefore - see the first sentence.

I think the chances of success are extremely low.
1) social a network with functionality similar to VK is not a WordPress blog for you, you can’t do it without a lot of money and in one person. (if you do not plan to do it before the second coming, of course)
2) Let's say you did it. Who needs social network without users? Nobody. It is very difficult to drive users there (Google out there with its google + how much it fools).
But if you like the process itself, then do it for health, a good task for practice.

The main thing in cell networks is not the number of features and bugs, but the number of people. It is unlikely that someone will be interested in a social network with a couple of hundred users. So don't waste your time on this. If you really want to do something - make an analogue of FaceApp with racism, and preferably a web version. People will flock to you

if the niche is free, then why not
everyone is completely occupied of money, of course, but new ones appear this time, not much money in the context of the income of one person is still many times more than the average salary of a developer
