Is it useful to spread the source with small budgets?

Hello. I am doing an interesting social project on which I plan to earn money.
There is an idea to make an open repository on github for the first time in order to get free access to the code audit, and possibly attract developers who are ready to work for the idea for the first time. After exiting the beta, I plan to close everything from prying eyes.
Before that, I plan to:
Make a landing (the brand already exists)
Design and detailed
terms of reference Promote it wherever possible It is
possible to start fundraising on some sites
The question is: what successful projects have developed according to a similar model, what negative points can occur, and in general, how useful such an approach can be. How responsive can the github audience be in such projects?
Thanks in advance.

IMHO it is better to do this project as free, but when it is launched, add paid goodies, while maintaining the free of charge of the main functionality. Otherwise, what's the point for developers "thank you" to take a steam bath over an exclusively commercial project?

This is how ghost.org works

The github audience will not care about your repository. Only you can attract people there with the idea itself or materially. I think it’s better not to open the code at all in your case, but to look for it yourself!
