Mobile development

Is it true that mobile app development is dying? Where to go next?

In the past few years, people have stopped installing mobile apps on their phones. 50% of Americans install 0 apps per month. I myself am one of them. If I run any application on the phone, it will be a mobile version of some very large business - Youtube, 2Gis, Yula, a brokerage program. I don't install another ToDo organizer, another media player, etc. things. And even if they are needed, there are already hundreds of them written in each category. I don't feel like writing the 101st ToDo organizer at all.
Web sites are also a dead number, in my opinion. Well, who needs another site, with a bunch of articles from copywriters?
Most of the time people spend watching social networks, news and Youtube.
What to study now, what startup to open, what is promising?

You are not an indicator.
In order to draw conclusions on the general population (all people), it is necessary to select a representative sample and, with some approximation, it will be possible to talk about trends in the world.
And the fact that 50% of Americans install 0 apps per month is a weak argument. Maybe last month it was 60%? I am sure that 100 years ago it was exactly 100%. Draw a graph to start, and we'll see.

In 2019, the turnover of mobile apps grew from $76 billion to $122 billion
Oh, I wish I had such a death
Nobody stopped installing anything, it’s just that the entrance became more expensive, the competition is higher, everything is still growing, mobile phones are still growing
I would put a good organizer there, but they’re just no, everyone is kind of shit, you have to masturbate on Google calendar

I am firmly convinced that if you stir up some kind of project, then the topic should be close to you, i.e. first of all, do it for yourself, with your own view of things, but as for me, the main thing is to be an advanced user in this matter, to know all the subtleties of the topic, then there is a chance to create something unique, something new, well, or something that has a killer feature.
Well, of course, with an eye on existing projects, to study the market, look for shortcomings, try to eliminate them, create something new, albeit not very different but having some advantages, you can always find your audience.
But of course, you need to assess the chances soberly, without illusions, the market is satiated, it is difficult to break through, you have to make more efforts to be noticed, but there is always a chance to shoot.
Maybe I'm talking banalities, but I'm sure not all software has been written yet))

50% of Americans install 0 apps per month. I myself am one of them.

Are you from among the Americans or from zero applications? :)
I myself am one of those who do not install anything lately. In general, there is a trend that people began to spend more time on instagram, tik tok, youtube, fb, instant messengers. You can develop in them, by the way :) Applications can be written in instant messengers, social networks (OK, FB, VK). You can cut some services for them, designed as web services, or HTML5 applications. Then go to mobile stores with the same stack, if wrapped in a webview. Well, it’s still boring, people don’t want to leave one resource, they want everything to be there, a lot of bloggers, a lot of information, a lot of entertainment, content, etc. without leaving one social network, so that the interface does not change, as long as you still need to get used to the new, and they don’t really like it, it’s easier to follow the path of least resistance of the brain - don’t go anywhere, don’t change anything, all the more so
And another important thought: you need to solve the problem, not write the program. When you stop thinking about programs, namely what problem exists and how to solve it, then immediately they will install your programs to solve their problems. It just happens that a programmer gets hung up on a program, he is interested in just writing a program to be, to compete like - but can I stir up such an algorithm, completely forgetting about the problem. As a result, it turns out that there is a program, but no one needs it, because it was originally conceived as a test of the pen for the sake of the programmer's own interest, and not for solving someone's problem. Well, except maybe your own :) Therefore, move away from writing programs to: how to help them there, how to make life easier, take an interest in the lives of "clients" and their problems at the current time,
