Virtualization

Is it safe to start a virtual machine from a real partition?

The HDD has a partition with Ubuntu x64 and a partition with Windows 7 x32.

Is it safe then to run Win from under Lin in a virtual machine?
Is disabling /media/Windows_7 enough to avoid concurrent hard drive access?

It is advisable not to allow two virtual machines to use the same partition at the same time. As for the rest, there shouldn't be any problems.

If there is no simultaneous access to the partition (in disk management we remove the letter assignment if these are FAT / NTFS partitions), then there will be no problems, I have repeatedly used this, and not only with VirtualBox, but also with QEMU.
