Is it safe to save passwords in Chrome now?

Should I use the save passwords feature in the browser in Chrome 56.0? Has Google secured it or is it still possible for some stealer to steal it? I'm not launching anything dangerous, just curious.

The browser easily gives anyone the saved information to fill in forms, even if these forms are not visible. And among the saved information in the autofill profile, there may be confidential data. For example, the user's home address or even bank card details.
