Is it safe to host your project on your home ip?

I want to try to adminit, back and implement my idea, for this there is a home mini-computer, there is a static ip.
Is it possible to be safe (what is the most important thing?) and start working, or should you not show your home ip?

If the modem / router has a firewall, then you can work quite safely. It is only advisable to allocate a separate machine / virtual machine on the network for this business - so that even if they use some kind of vulnerability and crawl through it, they cannot do anything harmful to your network and other machines.
