Is it really possible for a beginner to make money?

At the moment I am 38 years old and life has turned so that I have become a non-walking disabled person. Not willing to live on one pension (small) is interested in the possibility of additional earnings. After googling, I noticed two ways to create websites and create applications for android. Programming experience - only a university course, but I learn quickly, a mathematical mindset. Is it possible to learn one or the other at this age? How long will it take for me to earn at least some money? What money can I expect? What is the best thing to do? Or is this my idea from the category of delusional and I will waste my time for nothing?

In case the search does not work at all: A programmer's career after 30+. Myth or reality?
Yes, it is quite realistic to learn, there are many successful examples.
You can look at salaries on any job site, on HeadHunter , for example. Several hundreds of dollars for a beginner, a thing and a half or two (depending on the city) for the middle, and advanced dudes get three, five, and more, depending on skill and work, of course. On foreign freelance exchanges, the rate of $30 per hour is not something extraordinary, but you need to be able to speak English.
When the first money will go depends on the speed of learning and how lucky you are with the employer.
A person whom I know personally taught pluses for 2-3 semesters at the university, then at the age of about 32 he decided to learn Java, and after 8-9 months he suddenly got a job as a pythonist, for a salary of about $1000.
What exactly to do is up to you. In any case, you will need to improve fundamental knowledge, and in the process you may like some topic.

The simplest thing to do. And at the same time, having little programming experience, this is the creation of sites on wordpress. A simple business card website can be made without programming knowledge at all.
I've done this before. I advertised on a local bulletin board in the style of "Business card site from 1000 rubles" and just from one ad came 1 or 2 orders per month. Not a lot of money, but a good start. If interested, I can search in the archive for the text of the announcement with a description. I spent a long time calibrating it so that it began to attract people.

It's never too late to learn! The fastest way to learn web programming is to decide what kind of front-end or back-end developer you want to be and start learning the appropriate languages and technologies. Well, this does not mean that in a month you will be able to clip world-class projects, experience comes with time, study, practice. When you reach the level, go freelancing. About money, go to any freelance and see how much employers pay for projects. Depends on how much you will work and how.

Age is not the most important thing. It is much more important whether you want to be a programmer or just need any way to earn money remotely. Not everyone can be a developer. If the soul does not lie to this, then burn out very quickly and then - yes, it will be wasted time.

Yes, but not enough for the first couple of years.

yes, it’s real,
but you need 3-5 years to study and practice
, you have two ways:
1) work as a standard mercenary in the industry - you need to know frameworks and a bunch of other complex tools in addition to languages - it’s painful to work with people
2) an independent non-standard developer - you just need to know languages and have engineering talent - for example, you can make mob applications and sell them directly to people in appstores
for a beginner the best choice is js + css + html - mob applications, sites and microcontrollers in robotics
and a little php - to be able to make the simplest backend
in the learning process make your own chat-blog-forum, etc.
yourself without someone else's code
after you become an independent programmer ™ - you can try to use other people's frameworks and libraries or write your own tools

Everything is real, if there is a desire, act! I know people who started coding in their 50s and they succeeded. Good luck.
