Is it possible to work with sound in Hackintosh on an external HDD + external sound card?

Hello, I want to install Hackintosh for only one purpose, for the purpose of sound processing. I have an external audio card Scarlet 2i2, it started up in a virtual machine even without drivers, but there are terrible lags. I thought to put the operating system on a regular HDD, but I would have to erase the system, then there would be a problem with installing Win 10. I thought about splitting the disks and putting it on the second Hackintosh (I have Ubuntu on the same principle), but I came across an interesting solution, Hackintosh on an external HDD - looks attractive and safe, who has come across whether programs for processing Video Audio will work well?

If you have a USB 2.0 drive, everything will work like hell - the speed will be 40 megabytes per second.
And if all this gets into one hub, the card will have lags. 1.5 milliseconds your red box may not give out.
