Is it possible to work remotely in testing?
Hello.
I've been testing for 8 years now. Windows apps, some Unix, Sharepoint websites and portals, 3D graphics. Now I have been closely involved in Android OS for two years. In general, there is experience in many areas, even worked with Kinect. There are basic programming skills (Delphi, PHO+MySQS), understanding of databases.
I'm wondering if it's possible to find a job as a tester with my level of knowledge: permanent remote or freelance, how much such specialists are in demand?
Perhaps someone has a similar experience or someone will tell you where to look for such vacancies?
Thank you!

I worked for a Moscow company, the whole team is remote, but the work is permanent. Including testers. Everything worked out great.
Go to brainstorage or hh and type something like "QA remotely".
It seems to me that freelancing is not in very high demand. But you can find it as a remote job (who is looking, he will find).
The tester should be half programmer.
It should not just call 100500 actions of the same type, but automate its work.
Therefore, from the point of view of a programmer, you as a tester should not differ from him.
Therefore, try to improve your skill in programming and go remote.
Quite realistic to find.
Search on oDesk and elance. There are almost no vacancies on Russian exchanges.
Do not look at the primitive decoy test, there is a lot of competition from Indians clicking anywhere, and if you are a qualified specialist, finding it is not a particular problem.
It is always possible to find a job, but such work will include not only testing, but also adding code or fixing it.
on the weblancer.net exchange, the vacancy of a remote tester and software quality specialist in the Delphi environment was repeatedly posted. moreover, the office was not Russian, published an ad through a representative in Russia. the requirements were terrible, but the salary was terribly appetizing
There is a terrible shortage of normal freelance testers, one out of 50 people can write the simplest test plan and evaluate the work, the other 49 simply apparently do not know anything about the work of a tester.
Didn't find what you were looking for?
