Is it possible to work in Android Studio without Intel HAXM?

I recently installed Android Studio on my old Win7 system. It was set for 2 hours. Everything opened as it should, started working and faced the fact that neither the compiler nor the emulator started. I can’t say for sure what exactly interfered, but the system wrote that I should install Intel HAXM. I have an ancient computer, 2003, I don’t plan to update it yet (you need to learn first) Windu also has no way to reinstall.
The goal of the racing studio is to build and run a simple Hello World app on mobile and scale it up a bit. Is it possible to do this without tambourines or is it necessary to update the computer to the level of a Chinese "supercomputer"? Maybe Android Studio is not installed yet, but is it easier to install something?
While I want to understand how to do Hello World, practice with design (minimal) and work with sqlite databases.

Try compiling from command line - https://developer.android.com/studio/build/buildin...
In general, in theory, in order to develop for a droid, AndroidStudio is not needed. It is enough to put the sdk. But it won't be very convenient.)
