Is it possible to work adequately in Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 and newer versions (2013-14) on a virtual machine? And if so, which virtual machine is preferable? virtualbox? vmware? Hyperv? Something other? ...

It all depends on the complexity of the projects, the need for sql, etc. You need 4-8 gigs of memory only for ide and related programs and ssd, then it's probably possible.

Quite. I do have 16 gigs of ram.
