Is it possible to use socket io without express or feathers?

At the moment I'm using the stack: nuxt js + laravel
There was a need to use socket io (I had never used it before).
After reading, I realized that I need to install express or feathers js. The question is, is it possible to use socket io directly with nuxt js ?
