Is it possible to use a version control system for a designer? (mercurial)
Working in an IT company, I faced the need to use a version control system, basically everyone uses Mercurial. But I do not quite understand its expediency, in the context of solving design problems. Huge files, changes are still not visible, because. it's graphical information, lots of alternatives/unaccepted/unsuccessful options...
Has anyone encountered similar problems? Is it worth insisting on an alternative, or is it better to accustom yourself to using a version control system?

I expelled the designer from the repository to the dropbox because:
a) It clogs the repository with a bunch of graphic files that can be used or rejected. Those that will be used will fall into the project resources. Why store psd and stuff in the repository? Only increases the size.
b) The designer does not need to delve into the details of the version control system. It just doesn't matter to him. The benefits are almost nil.
changes are still not visible
As a designer, dropbox saves me, I had to restore from previous versions several times, everything is clear
If it is important to track changes, then this is useful. And for a verstuna, this may be important.
It can also be useful for designers. Namely:
- backup
- centralized storage of all the necessary resources (especially if you work in a team)
- it is convenient to keep several versions of files (brainstorming, etc.)
- integration with developers who use the same version control system (they will always have up-to-date design quirks)
Perhaps pixelapse will suit you - they already wrote about it on Habré .
I somehow already asked a similar question on Habré, that's what a friend answered: habrahabr.ru/qa/9025/#answer_38410
Mercurial for graphic files is not very convenient to use. Specifically, Adobe has Adobe Version Cue or Adobe Drive for this purpose (I myself did not understand which of them was which, but this is exactly it).
There is also a book "Foundation Version Control for Web Developers" - there your topic is considered.
