Is it possible to upgrade the Lenovo ideapad z500 from a 2nd gen Intel processor to a 3rd gen processor?
I have a laptop Lenovo ideapad z500 with an intel core i3 2348M processor (released in the 1st quarter of 2013). In SPU-Z, rPGA988 writes about the socket - it means that the processor is not soldered on the board and must be replaced. The older model of the same laptop is equipped with an intel core i7 3632QM processor. So I would like to replace the i3 2348M with the i73632QM. Wikipedia says that both processors have the same G2 socket (aka rPGA988, as I understand it), the heat dissipation is also the same - 35W.
It seems that everything converges, but the generations are different, is this a problem?
Are there other reasons why such a replacement will not work (may not work)? (the manufacturer has set some kind of blocking for changing components in the BIOS, etc.)

If both models (the existing older one) have the same chipset, and also if the manufacturer's website (Lenovo) has the same BIOS for them (and not just the same version number, but exactly the same files for both) - there will be no problems must.
.
UPD. Although, according to the manufacturer's website (Intel), I would doubt the compatibility (purely mechanical) of these processors: Intel® Core™ i3-2348M and Intel® Core™ i7-3632QM
Thanks for the help! I’ll check the BIOS issue at home, but at the expense of mechanical compatibility, you looked at the wrong processor option: on the same Intel website, on the same page, there are two types 3632QM ball and 3632QM pga (they are not located nearby, so it’s easy not to notice). So you looked at the ball, they are soldered into the motherboard, and the PGA pen, they are removable
