Is it possible to take snapshots of the system and not a full backup of the VM?
The other day I set up a test machine for dev development and there will probably be problems with the integrity of the virtual machine.
Hence the question - can proxmox make daily non-full backups of a virtual machine, but only take snapshots? (to save space on the hard drive)
So far, I see only a manual option in the interface to take a snapshot of the current state, and this is not very convenient.
Thank you!

Only proxmos backup can do incremental backups with pve. But this is a normal debian under the hood, and if you know how, you can script whatever your heart desires.
Proxmox is an add-on for qemi-kvm... respectively, you can do it with a script from the console, shove the script into crontab. And yes, as they said above, this is debian, so you can do a lot
yes, just call snapshots by cron and you will have like an incremental backup
