Is it possible to switch 1 virtual network from several ports of the router?

The bottom line is that there are several switches, they must be in the same virtual network and connected to the router. Is it possible to directly connect switches to different ports of the router so that it defines them as 1 virtual network? Or is this nonsense and is it better to just tie them together and connect them to the router?

On the router, you can combine ports into a bridge. But in general it is not the right design at all. The bridge is usually made by the central processor of the router and it will die from a few tens of Mbits of traffic. It is better to combine switches directly into one broadcast domain.

The question already has an answer - a virtual network - VLAN, so use this standard - 802.1Q.
