Is it possible to somehow resist DDoS on shared hosting?

Hello %username%,

We have a small site that does not interfere with anyone, with quite modest attendance, and lives perfectly on shared hosting.
But something went wrong, and now the site is being attacked from a bunch of IPs.

Advise options for resolving the situation.

Well, there's not much you can do here. First of all, make a backup, otherwise the hoster will “ask” you out soon. In general, purchasing a VPS will not be much more expensive than shared hosting. There are already chances to defend yourself there...
Another option is to buy the services of anti-dosers. It's really expensive...

That's for sure. But in any case, if the DDoS is serious, and the one who manages it notices that they are trying to block it, they will set a bunch of other machines on you. You won't run to the hoster for every sneeze with a request to block :)
For the first time, you can try. Then - as it goes - in any case, evaluate the seriousness of the attacker's intentions.

It seems to me that defending against DDoS on a shared hosting is almost like treating a leg when you only have a saw.
In general, a normal host can always sell you ddos protection, and has a normally configured nginx with limits.
And so you shine VPS.

By and large, VPS will not help against serious DDoS attacks.

Only with the help of anti-dosers, such as qrator, kaspersky and others.
You can start with ones like cloudflare.com, they provide basic protection for free.
