Is it possible to send mail indirectly from backend servers?

See what the question is.
In general, this is a good way to highlight the IP of the backends and tell the ddosers where to beat you to make it hurt more.
For the rest (assuming, of course, that all backends are correctly configured from the point of view of mail - hostname, ptr, spf, dkim is desirable, and that's all) - don't give a damn.
Through the external smtp, each letter will go from 100ms (and sometimes for several seconds if there are retransmits in the network) - this should also be taken into account.
