Is it possible to run not services but heavy software on KVM?
As I delve deeper into virtualization, I want to ask a question in what plane, suppose there is a fairly productive server, 32 gigabytes of RAM, xeon and ssd disks - it is clear that for some small web project there is excess power and 70-80% of potential power will be idle.
The question is - is there a chance to run Windows (any version, we don’t touch the purity of the license yet) and on it, for example, Archikad or something similar that eats a lot of RAM and processor? In which direction to dig?
PS games, videos and other content are not implied, purely working software, it is planned to use heavy software through VNC and similar technology

It is possible, of course, there will be losses, but with sufficiently powerful hardware it will work.
Forwarding a video card is a pain, but I did it in proxmox (the same kvm, only in a convenient interface).
I even laid out the method, but it didn’t work for everyone, as a rule, on cheap metrics and with the forwarding of the integrated video core, there were
problems Archikad will work without brakes. Unless I would recommend installing it not in a virtual one, but on a real hard drive in a VM
, but on such a configuration as in the article, I play and draw in CAD - nothing lags.
So, is it possible to work on a VM - you can, but as for remote work - there may be problems, even on a normal PC, video through the same rdp slows down godlessly, some software does not open at all, for example, Grand Estimate, but toys none of them work... I drew some nasty stuff through rdp... I need to test it, but so far I don't know any normal software for remote work in a VM, which would be the same as working on this PC without remote use. Although office work on remote work is the norm.
It is possible, who forbids something?
By the way, no one forbids running this on the server itself.
Can.
If it starts. Because Windows in KVM has some kind of horseradish, understand what kind of vidyuha is emulated, it is called Red Hat QXL GPU, if it works on it, then it will work. But let's say games - not one gets up, does not find a video card :)
The correct solution is to virtualize an existing server, for example, under VMWare ESXI, and next to it, raise another Windows virtual machine in it.
