Is it possible to rewrite the interface of the qumo video player?

An idea crept in to remake an old, shabby player into a futuristic clock. The question is, is it possible to rewrite the interface of the player itself, or will it be necessary to remove the display and do it from scratch?

Look for firmware or maybe there is an sdk for developers (it is unlikely that it will be in the public domain).
If you find it, then open the firmware \ sdk to look and change.
I think it is difficult, especially if there is no experience.
