If the Mac OS system is one of the latest and it means the user's login password, then it cannot be removed (or very difficult), but you can simply rearrange the system. That is, he will be able to use the poppy.
If the find poppy function was enabled in the icloud poppy settings, then you need to go through any other computer to the site icloud.com, enter your apple id and password there. Select the find iPhone tab, there will be a poppy in the list of devices. It can be blocked or deleted. If you choose to block, then as soon as the computer is turned on and connected to the Internet, it will be blocked (but for this you need to enter your or another user's password or guest login on the poppy and connect to a wi-fi network or be within a free available network). It will ask for a 4-digit password (which you will come up with during the lock) immediately upon turning on. Such blocking is already more difficult to bypass, the system cannot be rearranged.
But if you do not turn it on, but immediately rearrange the system and bind it to a new iCloud, it will not block.
If the find poppy was not enabled, then blocking will not work, I think. But still go to the site, check it in the list of devices and click block if it appears there.
In general, this blocking function is very weakly implemented on poppies and is almost useless, unlike the iPhone.
Nobody will look for it on the poppy address on the network. According to the serial, if only the police find it by the usual method of checks in the places of purchases, then they will return it to you.

As with all unix-like systems, getting root is pretty easy if you have physical access. The only thing that can save - encrypting the entire disk or some partitions / data.
According to the serial number, you can only verify the belonging of a randomly found laptop, and then supporting documents will be needed. Preferably receipts for the purchase, a box with a sereynik (well, or where else it is written). MAC is a very weak argument.
The probability of finding it is zero, if only because in Russia no one will look for him even after filing a complaint with the police.
