Is it possible to programmatically disable the SATA port in modern motherboards?

For a long time I did not have a desktop - only laptops. And so now, while collecting the desktop configuration, I can’t find answers to some questions.
So far I have settled on the mother ASUS Z97-Deluxe.
Who knows - tell me please! Is it possible to disable SATA ports programmatically on it (or in general on similar ones) (BIOS, UEFI, or whatever it is now ...).
The task is simple. Several drives are installed and it is fundamentally important to be able to turn off some drives when starting the OS from one of the other remaining ones. You can, of course, pull the cables, but I would like to humanly, through the interface.
Is this possible? I read the manual on this mother - but I don’t understand yet ...

Can not take a steam bath and turn off the power of the hard drive, not SATA? Put a relay, and there are many ways to control it.
