Is it possible to pass to ViewHolder ListView?

I am writing a CustomAdapter for LIstView, for a chat that can receive heterogeneous messages. One of the messages contains a ListView of other objects.
Can I pass in ViewHolder ListView and not TextView. ImageView etc.?
I read this article.
Did not help.
I think that an explanation of using an adapter with a ViewHolder would help me. If you have a good guide on this topic, I will be very happy.
