Is it possible to move the edit area to a separate buffer?

There is a big script, with a bunch of functions. Can I select the area of interest to me and open it in a separate buffer, but what would be changed when saving that part of the original file, from where I took the selection.
Those, for example, singled out one function and see only it on the screen.

Unite line/grep.
